Solvent-based: Gorilla Grab Construction Adhesive is a great general-purpose product that will harden over time as the solvent leaves the product. Once cured the product is very rigid and can be susceptible to fracture if given a large knock.
Internal Use: Gorilla Grab Construction Adhesive ideal for installing Gypsum wall linings and general carpentry work. Gorilla Shower Grab is great for acrylic-type shower linings as the solvent bites to hold onto the acrylic liner.
External Use: Solvent-based construction adhesives need to be protected from the elements if the timber they are applied to gets too wet, as they have the chance to lose adhesion.
PU-based: Gorilla Grip & Gorilla Glue are excellent adhesives that require certainty under stress-loaded structures such as flooring. PU adhesives require very close contact as they expand during the curing process, forcing the adhesive into the surface of the porous material. For this reason they require support mechanical fixing or clamping while curing. Gorilla Grip is a gel where as Gorilla Glue is a pourable resin.
Internal Use: Gorilla Grip and Gorilla Glue act to tie multiple timber elements into a single functional piece. They are not designed to be structural adhesives; however, they provide a lot of internal strength to the task they are required for. Gorilla Grip is ideal for floor assembly and general carpentry. Gorilla Glue is suitable for a quick fix and great for making chopping boards.
External Use: Gorilla Grip and Gorilla Glue provide a completely weatherproof joint; water will not pass provided the glue line is continuous. This makes both products ideal for outdoor furniture, general carpentry and making/repairing wooden joinery.
Acrylic/Water Based: Gorilla Wallboard is good for installing gypsum wallboard, plaster and timber architraves and scotia’s. PVA’s are good for general carpentry (interior), fixing architraves and scotia. Acrylic adhesives will always work better on dry porous materials than wet or highly damp substrates.
Cyanoacrylate: Soudal 2C Super Fast Adhesive these are great adhesives when you need a fast result, while only using a small amount of product. For large area adhesive tasks this would work out expensive, but for quick solutions with non-porous materials, they are great! Cyanoacrylate adhesives provide strength before mechanical fasteners are used, e.g., mitre joints, templates, etc.
