WHAT IS A SILICONE SEALANT?

Silicone sealant is a liquid form of sealant , with adhesive properties and high flexibility. Typically, it looks, feels, and acts like a gel.
Unlike other adhesives, silicone keeps its elasticity and stability in both high and low temperatures once cured.
Furthermore, silicone sealant is resistant to other chemicals, moisture, and weathering.

WHY WOULD I CHOOSE SILICONE INSTEAD OF ALTERNATIVES?

Strengths

  • Easy to gun
  • Good UV resistance
  • Good value option
  • Solvent free
  • Low VOC, no nasties
  • Simple option, in many cases

Limitations

  • Generally unable to paint
  • Difficult to repair, it doesn’t stick to itself
  • Messy to clean-up
